The TrakMaster boasts the classic Focusrite Platinum mic pre and compression circuits, meaning performance specifications never before seen at this price point, setting a new standard for project studio signal processing. A high quality mic pre, intuitive compression, three band flexible EQ, and ‘tube sound’ control come together in this unit to ensure you have all you require to get a quality signal tracked. You even have the option to fit a Focusrite A/D card, taking you directly from the TrakMaster into your digital workstation, whilst retaining the Focusrite signature sound as you flow from analogue to digital. Class A pre-amp TrakMaster boasts the same award-winning pre-amp as the original, industry standard VoiceMaster. This pre-amp demonstrates the same wide-bandwidth philosophy featured in the original Focusrite units. Focusrite’s custom pre-amp ensures low noise and distortion, delivering clarity and warmth without unwanted artefacts, displaying the signature transparency for which Focusrite has become famous. Also found in this section are Phantom Power, Phase reverse and a High Pass filter for controlling rumble, proximity effect and pop reduction, enabling TrakMaster to handle any audio source. Direct Input Also included on the front panel are Microphone and Instrument inputs, allowing quick and easy connection without the need for a separate DI box. Use the TrakMaster as a front end to your system and enjoy quality vocal and instrument recordings, tracked in seconds. Optical Compressor TrakMaster features the most intuitive Focusrite optical mono compressor to date. It comprises servo-controlled optical attenuators that deliver better results than equivalent VCA designs, delivering more punch and fatter sounding compression. Within the ‘optical compressor section’ you will find a single control for more or less compression, complemented by a 6 LED compression meter for clear visual indication of gain reduction. ‘Tight’ and ‘Punch’ switches are included to allow easy selection of compression settings, and extra control over the dynamic range. Compression can be applied either Pre or Post EQ, a very useful choice in any sound application, allowing more interrelation between compression and flexible control of the EQ. Tube Sound Focusrite’s patented ‘Tube Sound’ technology gives you controllable tube style warmth. This unique effect is achieved using a custom, dedicated discrete MOSFET circuit, specifically designed to emulate tube harmonics. Instead of limiting your studio to one sound, now you can choose – more tube, less tube, no tube. Optimised 3 Band EQ for vocals or instruments Introducing the new 3 Band Focusrite Equaliser; the most intuitive, yet versatile EQ in its price range. This EQ section is extremely easy to use, and boasts two modes of operation to guide you toward the best sounding EQ curves. The bass control features specifically selected frequency ranges and filter configurations, stretching down to 25Hz with earth shattering results. Equally as versatile, the treble turnover frequency can be switched between 10K and 3.3K enabling you to add shine to any signal. At the flick of a switch you can optimise the TrakMaster EQ for either Vocals or Instruments, capturing your sound with ease. Output Level The final section includes comprehensive output peak metering and control, to help you ensure that the operating level accurately matches the following processor’s requirements. Digital Connectivity The TrakMaster features the same optional high quality A/D converter as the groundbreaking Focusrite Platinum Penta, and the new VoiceMaster PRO. The converter is 24 bit and 128 x over-sampled, handling sample rates of up to 96kHz, with S/PDIF output and BNC word clock connector. An ADC lock LED on the front panel shows when word clock sync has been established. Tracking a signal into your DAW or any other digital recording media has never been easier or more affordable. EQ The Focusrite EQ story starts back in 1985, with the Forté console and legendary ISA110, a product specifically designed to meet the exacting standards of Sir George Martin and AIR studios. This EQ has subsequently been used by most of the worlds greatest artists, engineers and producers, who describe it as “the most musical sounding EQ ever”.
